Ximeng-Taizhou+-800 transformer successfully completed the UHV AC-DC transmission with the largest domestic capacity and the highest voltage level on the grid side. At the end of 2015, China Xidian received orders for 28 UHV converter transformers from the State Grid's ±800 kV Shanghai Temple-Shandong, Ximeng-Taizhou UHV “two straight” projects. The "two straight" project is an important project to promote the innovation and development of UHV DC transmission technology in China and the world. It has a significant demonstration role for the development of UHV power grid and global energy Internet. Compared with the previous UHV DC project, the “two straight” project has significantly increased the ±800 kV DC transmission capacity from 8 million kilowatts to 10 million kilowatts for the first time, and the grid side voltage level has increased from 750 kV to 1000 kV.
The Xi'an Xidian project is responsible for the Taizhou ±800KV converter station, which is located in Nanshe Village, Doutou Town, Xinghua City, north of Taizhou City, Jiangsu Province. The DC rated voltage of the converter station is ±800KV, which is combined with the Taizhou 1000 kV AC substation. After completion, the Taizhou station will be the world's first UHV station with integrated AC and DC depth. Ximeng-Taizhou ±800 kV UHV DC transmission project has a transmission capacity of 10 million kilowatts, which is the world's first ultra-high voltage direct current transmission project of 10 million kilowatts. For the first time, the first project of Taizhou Converter Station adopted the world's first technology such as tiered access and AC/DC deep integration. With the construction of the project, the world record of many power industries will follow. According to the plan, the project will start operation in August 2017 at the bipolar high end.
